Documentation
How Dialecto works, written down for the product as it is built today. New here? Start with getting started.
Dialecto is in a soft launch. The app is still in testing and is not open to the public yet, so these pages describe the workflow rather than a sign-up you can follow today. Accounts open at launch, and in the meantime we are welcoming early access by email.
Start
- Getting started
From a connected repo to your first minimal-diff pull request: connect, scan, edit by domain, ship.
Understand
- Concepts
The model behind Dialecto: repo as source of truth, the editable index, domains, the surgical slice, minimal diffs, and the review lifecycle.
Guides
- Elixir / Phoenix
The first-class guide: setup, scanning, editing, the merge gate, and call-site rewrites for a Phoenix app.
- JSON / JavaScript
JSON message catalogs: the shapes Dialecto edits, how edits ship as minimal diffs, and the in-context editor for Astro.
- WordPress / PHP
Where WordPress-gettext support stands today, and what already works.
- Django / Python
Where Django-gettext support stands today, and what already works.
Connect
- GitHub App
How Dialecto connects to GitHub: App permissions, Verified app-attributed commits, and the personal-access-token fallback.
- Scanning & CI
The scan contract: one authenticated HTTP call from your CI carrying your catalogs and usage snippets — and nothing else.
Workflow
- The merge gate
The Dialecto/translations completeness check and the advisory Dialecto/quality check on your pull requests.
- Translation aids
Machine-translation suggestions, autofill modes, translation memory, and the glossary — all review-gated.
- Context & personas
Curated AI context: the brand-voice profile, audience personas, and the token-budgeted voice card that grounds every suggestion.
- Source call-site rewrite
Renaming a msgid rewrites the gettext() call-sites in your source — computed by Dialecto, applied in your repo.
Operate
- API & MCP
Dialecto's programmatic surface: the scan API, the MCP server for editors and agents, and the GitHub webhook.
- Self-hosting
Run Dialecto on your own metal: the stack, every environment variable, and the local-model setup.
Reference
- Reference
Repo settings, roles and permissions, supported PO and JSON constructs, and every limit — the lookup page.
- Troubleshooting
The failure modes you'll actually hit, and what each one means.
